However a burning oil smell may or may not be related, I don't believe any of the CCV hoses which may have failed are near exhaust components.

So I literally just passed 50k miles, exhausting the factory warranty in the process, and all of a sudden my '08 328i starts acting up! It idles pretty rough both in park or in drive, and it doesn't matter if it’s at start-up or after the engine
My wife's car overheated and blew the head gasket due to a water pump failure, this is me learning how to fix a BMW while fixing it.
It goes full speed only at front windshield defrost. Only one thing i noticed- with engine running operating voltage 15.1-15.3V- kind a too high. When i did oil change at BMW dealership i ask to diagnose this problems and ask to check the battery, answer- battery is ok, it needs more diagnostics and probably new AC control module or something else.
For example, a thumping noise when the transmission is put into gear or when the vehicle is accelerating is a classic symptom of a bad mount. Cracked or broken motor mounts can be an annoying source of vibration and noise, typically a clunk or shudder when accelerating hard. Tranny mounts have similar symptoms.. It is generally a
A decent indication of a failing water pump is that your fan will kick on high on start up and remain on high throughout the drive, as well as after shutting the car off. It will sound like the fan is screaming. The tstat is designed to fail open so an overheat condition is minimized.

The clutch resides in a flared housing (the bellhousing) that forms the seam between engine and transmission. The clutch pressure plate is bolted to the engine flywheel.

Not everyone realizes that the timing chain inside of their vehicle needs to be replaced at a minimum every 100,000 miles, and potentially in as few as 40,000 miles. As a result, there are plenty of vehicles, including BMWs, out there with a failing timing chain that is causing extra wear-and-tear on the vehicle and […]
